At Westinghouse, we believe in the principle of “Buy where we build.” It’s a strategic approach to sourcing materials, services and labor from local businesses in the countries where we are building our advanced nuclear technology.
Collaborating with local suppliers generates economic growth and creates high-quality, high-skilled jobs in the countries where a nuclear plant will be built. Becoming a part of a Westinghouse project also provides export opportunities for local companies to support the more than 30 AP1000 units currently in the pipeline globally. For each AP1000 unit that is built outside of Canada, Westinghouse could generate almost $1 billion of Canadian dollars in gross domestic product through local suppliers.
Today, we are building relationships with local suppliers in Canada to expand our nuclear supply chain to support AP1000 projects in Canada. If you have a business that can help us deploy our advanced nuclear technologies like the AP1000 reactor, as well as our AP300™ small modular reactor and eVinci™ microreactor, we’d like to hear from you.
