Inconsistent candidate preparation, delayed screening, and limited visibility into readiness before class entry highlight current industry concerns with Initial License Training (ILT) performance. The Westinghouse ILT Candidate Readiness Program strengthens front-end preparation by building foundational knowledge, exposing candidates to realistic operational conditions, and providing utilities with early insight into candidate readiness before entering formal license training.
The Initial License Training (ILT) Candidate Readiness Program prepares participants to enter ILT with strong foundational knowledge of system fundamentals and control room operations. This course is intended for Licensed Operator candidates who will be entering into ILT training with the utility.

The following pre-requisite knowledge is required for success in this course:
* Westinghouse can provide additional preparation for candidates who have not met the prerequisites above.
Key Outcomes include:
The ILT Candidate Readiness Program provides a structured bridge into formal license training, improving preparation consistency and offering earlier insight into how candidates respond to technical and operational challenges.
Benefits include:
The ILT Candidate Readiness Program is designed for:
The 9-week course is organized to build knowledge progressively, beginning with foundational reactor principles, plant systems, and technical fundamentals before advancing into integrated operations, procedure use, and plant response under normal, abnormal, and emergency conditions.
Instruction combines classroom learning with collaborative exercises, instructor-led discussion, and simulator-supported crew operational experiences that help participants connect technical knowledge to plant behavior and operational decision-making.
This student-centered learning environment places candidates in realistic situations, helping bridge the gap between foundational knowledge and real-world nuclear plant operations. The result is a focused and effective learning experience that builds confidence, strengthens technical understanding, and supports future success in formal license-track development.
Passing students receive a Westinghouse Senior Reactor Operator Management Certification.
