The ALS platform is a logic-based platform that does not utilize a microprocessor or software for operation, but instead relies on simple hardware architecture.

With one of the largest safety-related installed bases in the world, the Westinghouse Common Qualified — or Common Q™ — safety-grade instrumentation and control (I&C) platform is approved by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and other nuclear regulators worldwide for both new plant build applications and operating plant safety system upgrades.
