Physical Security

From both a regulatory standpoint and to the commitment of protecting the health and safety of the public, an efficient, effective Security program is essential. When it comes to meeting your security needs, Westinghouse is here to help.

A DOE report on Light Water Reactor Sustainability published the findings that Physical Security can account for as much as 20% of the nuclear workforce at a site, and that the cost for Security can be as high as 7% of the annual total cost of power generation.

Westinghouse offers a full suite of Physical Security products and services, covering Vulnerability Assessments, Gap Assessments, RAPT Analysis, Risk Assessments, Computer System Design and Upgrades, Blast Studies and Analysis, Site Specific Engineering and System Installation/Construction. Our full suite of services ensures your site remains in compliance with 10 CFR 73.55, while decreasing operating costs.

A Hands-On Approach to Design

We have dedicated engineers focused on physical security and are unique in that all members are not only degreed Engineers but have hands-on training and experience and each Subject Matter Expert (SME) is certified in Explosive Breaching, Mechanical Breaching, Close Quarters Combat and Long-Range Marksmanship. We are able to design your program with real-world knowledge, ensuring the most practical approach to the safety of your site. Our site-specific, tailored approach to Security ensures your program is lean, effective, and compliant, saving millions of dollars over the life of the plant.

All Westinghouse physical security SMEs hold clearances in United Kingdom, United States, Canada, and United Arab Emirates.

Recent Experience

Our team of Security Engineers recently completed the entire Security System Design for the AP1000 sites at Vogtle Units 3 & 4. We created all documentation, designs, and analyses for the sites utilizing the most efficient methods, ensuring regulatory requirements were met and operating costs were kept at a minimum.
